Rules are what make daily repricing a process instead of a mood. Six disciplines separate professional execution from rate thrashing:
1. Change With Cause
No rate move without a stated trigger: pace, an event, or a compset move. If you cannot name the cause, do not change the rate.
2. Step Sizing
Planned increment sizes - typically 5 to 15 units - prevent panic jumps and keep the rate ladder legible to the market.
3. Hold Windows
Minimum time between moves so the market can respond. Chasing every shop update trains guests and OTAs to distrust your rates.
4. Weekend Separation
Saturday is a different market than Monday. Price the days apart instead of stretching one rate across the whole week.
5. Last-Room Discipline
The last room at peak earns the premium, not the discount. Scarcity is pricing power - spend it deliberately.
6. Change Log
Every adjustment recorded with its reason, so the team can learn from outcomes and auditors can reconstruct decisions.
